We’re coming down to the wire — Hate Wrecked hits shelves on June 24, and I’m counting the days! This story has lived in my heart for years, and I can’t wait to share the full experience with you.
But before that… one last teaser.
This is your third and final excerpt. The moment when the tension cracks just enough to reveal something deeper underneath.
Missed the earlier excerpts? You can catch up here:
HATE WRECKED – I REGRET IT ALL
“What are you writing in there?” she asks, her voice pointed.
“Notes. Thoughts. Ideas. The usual stuff you put in a notebook.”
“Notes for your book?”
I scoff. “I’m not a writer.”
“Shut up. You are.”
She sits in the sand, the cat curling in her lap. “I miss music,” she says softly.
“Why don’t you make your own?”
I expect her to joke, but instead, she stares into the jungle. “He made me feel foolish when I danced. When I turned music up loud. Like joy was something that needed permission.”
I hear the edge in her voice, the ache of something deeper. She finally speaks about him. About the man we never talk about.
“You were groomed,” I say, the word thick between us.
“Then why are you the only one who’ll say it?”
I don’t have an answer.
We speak of blame. Of silence. Of the kind of regret that changes the shape of your bones. And later, when the fire dies low, she reaches for my hand in the dark. She sings. Softly, just for me. And I think:
I love you. I forgive you.
But instead, I close my eyes and say nothing.
Today I’m also sharing the map of Elderslie Atoll—the fictional island where Riley and Rowan are stranded. This is where their love story reignites, tangled in survival, secrets, and second chances. I hope it brings the world of Hate Wrecked to life for you.
