HATE WRECKED – Chapter One
After retrieving my suitcase, I head toward the exit—half-dreading the welcome party I’ve been promised. But when I see the man holding a sign with my name on it, I stop short.
Rowan Finn.
With my name in his hands and a scowl on his face.
I cross my arms. “What are you doing here?”
“Picking you up. What does it look like?”
“Why are you here?”
“I work for your mother now,” he says, jaw tight.
My pulse jumps. “Are you being serious right now?”
“Yes.”
“Is she here? I was told she wouldn’t be on island when I arrived.”
“No. But she asked me to look after you.”
I grit my teeth. “I didn’t ask her to do that.”
“I’m aware. She’s aware.”
He reaches for my suitcase again. “Can you give me that damn thing so we can get on with this?”
I follow him, heart racing. The last time I saw Rowan, he could barely look at me—his voice cracked, his eyes full of grief.
